SpeedCast launches a revolutionary new service for the Yachting and smaller coastal vessels market

Following the success of its global Ku-band maritime service, SeaCast, in partnership with Eutelsat, and targeted at the shipping and offshore industry, SpeedCast launches a new SeaCast service specifically designed for yachts, fishing boats and smaller coastal or river vessels.

This new service is an always on broadband service with a unique complete coverage of Asia, including South East Asian waters, the Maldives and the Indian Ocean, the South China sea, North East Asian waters and Australia. The coverage will shortly be extended to some other key yachting and coastal regions, namely the Mediterranean sea, the Caribbeans and the US East and West coast, using seven different satellites and allowing vessels, a yacht for example, to be always connected whether it is in Monaco, Phuket, Bali, the Bahamas, the Maldives or Australia. Vessels will enjoy always-on broadband internet access with VoIP and the capability to run any IP-based or web-based applications like audio/video streaming or video conferencing for example.

This mini SeaCast service also boasts one of the smallest, lightest and cheapest antenna currently available in the market. Its very small 60 cm antenna saves space, weight and money all at the same time! This is being offered at a very affordable price with the entry plan below US$1000/month for unlimited usage.

With its low price points and very small antenna to be fitted on smaller vessels, it is a revolutionary service opening the door to mass-market adoption of always-on broadband services.
