OmniCast

OmniCast provides a solution for reliably streaming data over the Internet by avoiding congestion found in IP networks. OmniCast uses satellite IP technology to bypass the congested Internet and distribute content to its strategically located edge servers throughout the region. The edge servers in turn deliver high quality, digital media content directly to end-users.

OmniCast is ideal for content providers to deliver streaming content to a broad base of viewers. The system ensures the reliable delivery of streaming content, and is unique in the world for being able to offer encryption of live streaming content.

Equipped with global load-balancing capability to redirect web traffic intelligently to the optimal edge server, OmniCast ensures the quality of viewing experience is optimized and error-free. OmniCast is capable of delivering either live or on-demand content more cost effectively and accurately than terrestrial based Content Distribution Network services.

System Architecture

There are four components of this solution:

Content Fetching
Content is aggregated at the SpeedCast Network Operations Center (NOC)
Multicast Distribution
Content is multicasted to edge servers throughout the region
Client Request
End user requests content hosted by SpeedCast via a single URL
Server Reply
SpeedCast's Stream Director determines the optimal edge server and redirects the client to it.
