SpeedCast's Solution

The prime focus of the solution will be to ensure that the network is "always on". We offer two major variations for high availability:

  • Mirror Network: add resiliency to the terrestrial network by placing a portion of it on satellite. This provides redundancy that is paid for by reducing the capacity of the primary terrestrial network.
  • Shadow Network: a non-load bearing network in the sky that becomes active when the terrestrial network fails. This "insurance policy" type solution provides cost effective protection, without requiring any changes on the established network.

UpCast leverages on the fact that downtime occurs infrequently and randomly. The UpCast solution uses "bandwidth-on-demand" technology: minimum bandwidth whilst idling but with the flexibility to accelerate to higher bandwidths when called into service.

UpCast is also bundled with co-location services to serve our clients DRC requirements. Our clients can replicate their systems and servers at any SpeedCast Network Operation Centre, and have it connected it to the primary network on a fixed circuit.
