Chris Hill

  • Chris joined Speedcast in 2020 and has overall responsibility for the strategy, selection, testing and implementation of all technology platforms across the business.
  • Chris has served in a variety of senior telecommunications engineer and consultant roles with extensive experience in urban, rural and remote environments.
  • He most recently served as Managing Director for Aurora Australis Network, a telecommunications company in Western Australia. Prior to that, he served as co-founder and CTO at ITC Global, where he launched and led network design workshops to understand client needs, pain points, and network complexities to create optimal connectivity solutions for customer operations.
  • His work has been recognized by the prestigious Western Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications Awards for infrastructure projects for the Australian government and for the application of satellite communications in remote mining operations.
  • Chris holds an MBA in Technology Management from La Trobe University, a Master of Engineering from RMIT, with undergraduate studies in Electronic Engineering and Business.
  • Chris is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Brent Horwitz

  • Brent joined Speedcast in 2017, providing strategic vision and commercial leadership to the company’s Cruise, Ferry and Yacht business segments.
  • His 25 years of global sales and executive management experience has seen him collaborate with Cruise and Ferry Operators to launch innovative service offerings that enhance the overall onboard experience and create new sources of revenue.
  • Prior to joining Speedcast, Brent spent 17 years at MTN Satellite Communications, where he headed the Cruise & Ferry business unit, helped to pioneer entry into the Passenger Ferry, Yacht, Commercial Shipping, and Energy vertical markets, and managed the company’s value-added service portfolio for Internet, telephony and broadcast television offerings.
  • Brent is a member of various industry associations, including the Cruise Line International Association, Interferry, the US Superyacht Association and the Marine Hotel Association.
  • Brent holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Nova Southeastern University.

Richard Elson

  • Richard joined Speedcast in 2020 and is responsible for the development and growth of the company’s global Energy business.
  • Richard brings to the position a successful track-record of more than 20 years of experience, including high-profile leadership positions and recognized sales achievements with offshore energy, maritime, and remote communications clients.
  • Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales for ITC Global where he led the Energy, Cruise, Commercial Maritime, NGO and Government verticals across all aspects of sales and account management. Richard also served as Managing Director for Europe, where he established and grew the company’s EMEA presence, gaining key regional market share for the business.
  • Earlier in his career, Richard spent 10 years at Harris CapRock Communications, where he served as the Vice President of Sales and Business Development for the EMEA region.
  • Based in Aberdeen, United Kingdom, Richard was educated at Pangbourne College and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hatfield.

James Trevelyan

  • James joined Speedcast in 2018 and leads the organization’s global Enterprise business.
  • Prior to joining Speedcast, he spent 17 years at Arqiva in various commercial and sales leadership positions, including a key role as management board director of the company’s Satellite and Media division. He has also held sales roles at Nortel Networks, Lexmark and IBM. 
  • James recently completed a second term as Chairman of the World Teleport Association, a non-profit organization serving the interests of satellite teleport operators.
  • James graduated with a double honours degree in International Business and Modern Languages at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.

Andre Eerland

  • Andre joined Speedcast in 2012 and has served in a variety of roles across the company’s global maritime business. Today he leads the sales activities for Speedcast’s Commercial Maritime vertical.
  • He has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and satellite network industry, both locally and internationally, and has helped to start-up, establish and turnaround organizations with sales, operations and P&L management.
  • Previously, Andre established Elektikom Satellite Services in 1995 before selling it to Speedcast.
  • Andre holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science and a Master degree in Economics, awarded by the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.

Athina Vezyri

  • Athina joined Speedcast in 2015 and leads Speedcast’s Maritime business.
  • Athina was the Founder and the Chairperson at SRH Marine Electronics S.A. a leading maritime company in communications, navigations and shipping electronics.
  • In 2014 she was elected to hold a position in the Board of Directors of CIRM Committee and she was appointed as a Vice President in 2018.
  • She is a member of numerous associations, including Wista, the Greek- American Chamber of Commerce, the Propeller Club, the Marine Club of Greece and the Chios Marine Club.
  • Athina received her Bachelor’s Degree in Radio Electronics from the Institute of Radio Communications in Greece and Radio Officer Diploma A Class.

John Truschinger

  • John joined as CAO in 2018 and his global responsibilities include human resources, IT, supply chain, QHSE, facilities and digital transformation.
  • He has 35 years’ experience working in IT and supply chain, and most recently held the position of SVP and CIO for Transocean until 2015. Prior to joining Speedcast Truschinger worked as a private consultant, providing IT, executive coaching and team-building related services to corporations.
  • John is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a sergeant until being honorably discharged in 1981.

Joe Spytek

  • Joe was appointed as President / Chief Commercial Officer in March 2020.
  • He has more than 25 years of experience in leadership and international business. Most recently, Joe served as the Founder and CEO of ITC Global, providing end-to-end satellite communications to energy, mining and maritime companies operating in remote and harsh environments; prior to the business being sold to Panasonic’s mobility communications division.
  • Joe has previously built several successful international telecommunications companies and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Alix Wright

  • Alix joined Speedcast in April 2020, where she leads the organization’s marketing communications and product management teams.
  • She brings nearly two decades of experience in marketing innovation and business transformation in the commercial and government telecommunications sectors.
  • Prior to joining Speedcast, she served as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at ITC Global, where she oversaw the company’s marketing vision and direction, corporate communications, strategic planning, and product portfolio activities.
  • Earlier in her career Alix led International Marketing for Harris Corporation’s Government Communications business, where she focused on marketing strategy for the company’s products and services in Latin America and the Middle East. She also served as Marketing Director for CapRock Communications (a company acquired by Speedcast in 2017), where she helped drive industry dialog around the emergence of High Throughput Satellite technologies, and supported multiple acquisition, integration and rebranding efforts.
  • Alix holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, with a concentration in Print Journalism and Marketing.

M.G. (“Moe”) Abutaleb

  • Moe joined Speedcast in 2017 and is a seasoned executive who has been involved in various segments of the telecommunications industry since 1977. Throughout his career, he has participated in and managed the definition, development and implementation of numerous satellite and wireless communications networks and products. Moe has held senior management positions with several companies leading the satellite communications and aerospace industries.
  • Moe cofounded Innovative Communications Technologies, Inc. (ICTI) in 1989. As president, he managed the systematic and progressive growth of this self-financed start-up, including the sale of ICTI to a publicly traded corporation in 1999. In 2003, he cofounded UltiSat, serving as president and CEO until UltiSat was acquired by Speedcast in 2017.
  • In 2011, Moe was presented with the Tech Council of Maryland’s prestigious Executive of the Year Award. He is a coauthor on several patents and holds a MSEE degree, with an emphasis in communications and microelectronics.
