Satisfies the GMDSS Distress Communications Requirement for two-way distress and coordination communications by enabling voice calls with RCCs, maritime authorities, and rescue services to provide additional details and receive assistance during an emergency.
Fulfills the GMDSS MSI Broadcast Requirement to receive navigational warnings, meteorological forecasts, and other safety-related information through Iridium SafetyCast, an Enhanced Group Call (EGC) service recognized for GMDSS operations.
Supports SOLAS ship security requirements by providing a silent alerting capability that discreetly notifies designated security contacts during security threats such as piracy, armed robbery, or terrorism incidents.
Meets international SOLAS LRIT requirements by automatically transmitting a vessel's identity, position, and time-stamped reports at prescribed intervals, enabling global vessel identification and tracking by authorized authorities.

GMDSS stands for Global Maritime Distress and Safety System — an internationally mandated set of procedures, equipment, and communications protocols established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Its purpose is simple: if a ship is in distress anywhere in the world, an alert reaches rescue authorities and nearby vessels automatically.
