Dakar Rally 2021
Mike Horn and Cyril Despres are determined to change the way motor racing is done on the planet. They will be participating in the Dakar Rally from Jan 3 to 15, 2021, to collect data for a full hydrogen-powered vehicle that they have been developing as part of the GEN Z Project.
Return of Life in the Arctic
In 2020 Summer, the world experienced a global standstill resulting from COVID-19. While the effects on humanity were devastating, the lack of commercial activity, tourism, and traffic had on the other hand a more positive effect for our environment. Mike and his crew sailed to the Arctic to observe the return of the wildlife in its natural habitat, taking back its possession after it has been left alone by human activity.
After a grueling 87 days in the Arctic winter, Mike Horn and Borge Ousland crossed the Arctic Ocean via the North Pole as Mike’s last leg of the Pole2Pole Expedition in 2019.
In 2019, after the K2 expedition, Mike set sail North for the last leg of his Pole2Pole Expedition: the crossing of the Arctic Ocean via the North Pole. Mike was joined by his friend and famous polar explorer, Borge Ousland, to embark on this adventure with him. They prepared for their journey and trained in Nome, Alaska, before on board Pangaea and make their way as far North as possible.
Mike and Swiss Mountain Guide, Fred Roux, attempted the K2 summit in July 2019. After two months of acclimatization, they attempted the summit, but had to turn back due to strong winds and repeated avalanches. Though disappointed, the team is thankful to go home alive and have the opportunity to take on their next adventures.
