Every morning since explorer Mike Horn and his crew got to Alaska, the sun barely rises, and everyone is already up and tackling their different tasks. There are two main priorities: getting the boat ready and the expedition gear prepared before we set off.

Although Mike tends to favor solo expeditions, he is happy to go with Borge. Their past polar experience together means they know each other well enough to count on one another. Their experience allows them to minimize the weight they will have to pull in there sledges during the expedition.

While Borge fully focuses on the expedition preparation, Mike continues to help Bernard and the rest of the crew to fix up the boat’s withstanding issues. Before embarking on any long adventure in a remote part of the globe, he always makes sure every single detail is double-checked, adjusted and secured.

Tomorrow they plan on waving goodbye to their Alaskan friends and make their way through the Bering Strait to venture into the Arctic Ocean.
