Speedcast’s engineering and support teams recently worked with our customer to implement and test the latest LEO services. The customer owns a growing fleet operating in some of the world’s most remote destinations, from the High North to Antarctica in the south. They are an ideal customer for a seamless, multi-path solution as their vessels sail in and out of GEO coverage areas and into low-look-angle locations applicable for LEO connectivity.
The Speedcast team successfully integrated LEO services via our SD-WAN technology, implementing LEO coverage as part of the comprehensive service to the vessel. The trial occurred in the Port of Hamburg in Germany, with good performance levels while in port, followed by service drops shortly after leaving port. As their progress continues, we will work with NGSO operators to test and integrate their LEO solutions into our mobility portfolio.
As NGSO constellations like Starlink and OneWeb continue to progress, we’re helping customers understand their options with remote site trials and testing.
